Sliman's Vipers win State Championship and are on to the Nationals

Full Description:

Slimans Vipers girls fast pitch softball of Amherst recently won the Class B NSA State Championship in Milford, OH and now move on to the NSA National Championship the week of July 24th in Columbus, Ohio. Last year was the Vipers first trip to the Nationals and the girls finished 32nd overall from more than 140 teams in their division. The girls have worked harder this year to win the State Championship and qualify to play for the National title. Several of the girls play for Amherst High School Varsity Softball team who won the High School SWC Championship and are eager to bring a third major championship home to Amherst this year. "I have the greatest confidence in these girls that they will make me, their parents and the entire Amherst community very proud when they return from Columbus", said head coach Mason Parham. But we are faced with another challenge in order for them to participate. The team has set out to raise $5,000 dollars to cover expenses that they will incur for travel, lodging, food, and other miscellaneous activities for the week of the national tournament. The girls have held two car washes at Drug Mart to earn money towards the tournament and they are currently looking for sponsors who would like to help them reach their goal and bring the National Championship home to Amherst. All donations in any amount will be welcome and very much appreciated by the team. Together as a community we can succeed. Any one person or organization that contributes $500 dollars or more will receive a plaque with a signed team picture of the Vipers from the National as recognition of their donation. Please make checks payable to: Amherst Girls Softball Association and mail to head coach: Mason Parham 1073 Terra Lane Amherst, OH 44001 Phone: 984-2865 The Viper Girls and Coaches would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and support of the youth in our community.
